St. Paddy’s Day is one of my favorite drinking…I mean, religious…holidays of the year!
Skip this text and show me the Parties in Kearney! …
I think it’s because of the lighthearted, raw and natural nature of this holiday…and because, we’re not forced to buy presents for people that we don’t want to spend money on, we’re not required to take someone out to a special dinner, and we don’t have to spend weeks planning a perfect day/night.
No Sir.
This day is about ‘celebrating life’ with friends, families, loved ones and acquaintances. With cold brews in our hands and warm food in our bellies, it’s a day of comradery, fun and relaxation.
Thank God that the Catholics started this holiday and then passed down to the Irish!
if Paddy’s Day would have been started by Protestants, we would probably all have to wear suits instead of something green, we’d have to buy something from the bake sale if we were hungry, we’d be able to have a shot of wine (aka. grape juice) at communion, and we’d do everything that we can to keep our bodies from swiftly moving (aka. dancing). [Note: Before you get all riled up, just know that this is a joke...I have no idea if protestants are capable of dancing!]
If you’d like to join your Kearney, Nebraska friends and family for this year’s Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations, reserve your day off of work (March 17th, 2012), right now. Or, if you like the less conventional approach, you could always use a sick day or two! [Note: We are not medical doctors, but working on a day when our friends & family are celebrating without us, might make us sick.]
